About

We built Escalate so support reaches people in time.

Frontline workers are the backbone of the economy, and too often go without basic support. When life breaks down, they lose a shift, and employers lose a good employee. We fix that.

Our founders

Escalate’s founders bring 20+ years of experience with frontline workers

Sean Segal and Sienna Daniel met as teachers and spent the next 20+ years building programs that helped people find more purposeful work. Escalate originated in that experience.

Cofounder and President

Sienna Daniel

Sienna has spent her career dedicated to frontline workers. She started in the classroom, then moved into nonprofit work that helped people find better jobs and keep them. At Generation, the global nonprofit founded by McKinsey & Company, she helped build the United States organization from a standing start to a team of 180 people.

She leads partnerships at Escalate. She helps employers connect their profit and loss to what their frontline team is carrying.

Cofounder and Chief Executive

Sean Segal

Sean was the founding chief executive of Generation in the United States, where the organization grew to a $30 million budget in four years. The results were real. Yet, across workforce development, work that runs on philanthropy gets treated as charity rather than as something a business needs.

That is why Escalate is built the way it is. Support reaches the employee who needs it, and the employer can see impact on the bottom line.

Why we exist

The frontline deserves more than a paycheck

Most hourly workers are one flat tire, one sick child, or one missed bill away from losing a shift. They rarely leave because of the job. They leave when life outside work becomes impossible to manage.

Escalate puts every kind of help in one place: one simple chat with a real human. A ride when the car dies. Food when the week runs short. A path to a better role when they are ready to climb.

To the business, it’s a cost. To the employee and their family, it’s everything. We help both.

What we believe

The principles behind the platform

People over problems

A call-out happens to someone who is struggling, so we start by asking what went wrong.

Support your employees well and the business will thrive.
